Weekly Wishlist, 25.07.2022

You've all heard about Christmas in July, but what about Autumn in August? After a week of such heat, it probably feels a little out-of-touch for me to be showing you some pieces for your Winter wardrobe. But this is fashion, and looking ahead remains remarkably necessary, and who am I to complain when it contains Isabel Marant knee-high boots and Chukka boots from Chloe? Of course, dressing for now is non-negotiable, and there's some beautiful Summer pieces that hit the stores this week.

Summer

&OtherStories was the place to be if looking for a little red dress. This floral midi is bold enough to make a statement, but pretty enough to be worn by many different ages and for many different occasions. The voluminous mini dress hits the nail on the head when it comes to versatility too, and it's definitely one to have on your radar if you like a little fun with your outfit. Dress it up with delicate Choo's, or pair with chunky boots for something with a little more street appeal. I also spent a little time on Topshop (ASOS), and found this wicked colour block knitted dress. I say wicked because it's got Cruella written all over it, but for those of you who don't want to channel your inner Dalmatian-diva, they do a similar style in plain black too.

I couldn't decide between the green and the orange version of this fabulous Karen Millen boucle jacket, but having come across this gorgeous satin skirt from Mango, the green one made the cut. This is currently in the sale for £149, so when you've bought the orange and the green, it's less than £300 and a whole lot of fabulous. I've also included these linen blend Bermuda shorts from H&M, because both linen and Bermuda shorts are a staple for any minimalists wardrobe, and a style that you can wear for work without looking like you're 5 years old, or just came from the gym.

My favourite designer pieces this week are subtly exquisite. I actually saw these Germanier feather and sequin shorts a few weeks ago, when they first came onto the scene, but of course they sold out, so here they are in this weeks edit instead. I saw these Chloe sandals online but tried them on in store over the weekend, and can confirm they are great quality, such craftmanship, and so practical. I'd pair these with all black or all white, and of course they'll be a favourite with those who favour neutral and natural tones but want to add a little something extra - something Chloe always does so well. Finally is the Walid jacket. This is handmade from upcycled 19th Century silk cloth, embroidered delicately with peacock and garden motifs. I absolutely love the cut of this, with the oversized sleeves and cropped body, which lets you wear it with a range of different pants, skirts and dresses. This comes in at £2080, but it really is a piece of art.

Looking Ahead...

Now this gets me excited! I love, love, love boots, and these Chukka boots from Chloe are at the top of my list for a casual, comfortable and unique but classic style. The more affordable version would be the Clarks Wallabies, but I have yet to get as excited about those as I do about these. They're also called the "Jamie" boot, which is basically Amie, right?... When talking boots, it would be an abomination not to use some Isabel Marant. What I particularly loved about these knee-high tan leather boots is the styling on the product page. By pairing them with a cotton midi dress, it shows how you can take Summer pieces into the Autumn when it comes. This navy midi skirt by Claudie Pierlot is super smart, albeit a little bit gothic, and a lightweight style that makes it perfect for layering with a chunky knit. The merino wool dress is another &OtherStories find, nodding to the classic Chanel boucle style but a relaxed fit. I'd pair this with knee high leather boots and a flash of thigh before the Winter chill kicks in.

Goodbye July!
