I've decided to stop limiting myself to 10 pieces on my wishlist for a number of reasons. 1) Because I add 10 pieces to my wishlists pretty much every day. 2) I make mental notes and styling suggestions, more often than not finding the perfect pairing for a particular item, so I may as well include it. 3) Fashion brings so much joy. Who would want to limit that? 4) Life is too short to be living within self-set constraints (something I am learning!) 5) The aesthetics! I can make much nicer looking pages with more things to play with.
So, in light of these revelations & resolutions, here's the pieces that caught my eye this week. Count them if you wish...
As you can see, I've become a bit dress-happy and pink-happy, but I take that as a sign that I am on the up in general. The first dress is this gorgeous cotton cut-out midi by AJE. Whilst I am wholly against any form of Mimosa in real life, I was really drawn to this dress. The name, if taken to mean the dreaded orange juice in Champagne cocktail, is really fun, however I did a little research on the Mimosa plant to see if this had any more relevance. The name comes from Mimosa Pudica which means shy or bashful, and the plant is named so because if touched, the leaves fold inward or droop so that the plant can protect itself, then re-opens a few minutes later. This brought a sentimentality to the dress, for me, as I think it's such a stand out piece that one would wear if she or he was feeling shy or bashful, to both hide behind the dress whilst getting a boost of confidence in its glory too. The second is this beautiful tie-dye dress by Brogger, a brand that I have not come across before and question why I have been living under a Brogger-free rock. I just love the soft colours and the way the elastics make it drape. It would look gorgeous with the Mango feathered sandals that I have for you, here.
Everybody knows that when you put the word "Exclusive" on a piece, it automatically adds to the hype and hook power that it has. I was having a look through the Exclusive to MatchesFashion section and came across this puff-sleeve maxi dress by Hannah Artwear. This drew me in because it looks like the love-child of two dresses that I have been pushing to clients this week from Boden and one of our in-house brands, but of course this knocks them both out of the park. I thought the back detailing was absolutely gorgeous, and the palette will work on the palest and darkest of skintones.
Two pieces that I am really, really happy to have found this week are this Plisse Midi Dress and this Pink Broderie Midi Dress, both from ASOS. The former is a nod to my Issy Miyake favourite Pleats Please, whilst the latter is the colour of the season and shows that broderie is still relevant and modern enough for fashion today. ME&EM also offered up this jumpsuit in the colour of the season, labelling it "Candy Pink", whereas M&S called it "Flamingo" when serving up this linen blazer. If you want to make one, any occasion, Summer ready purchase, this blazer is probably it. Wear over a little dress when out, with jeans and a top for lunch or drinks, an oversized white shirt for day, or your littlest shorts underneath. It needs very little thought to look fab.
Speaking of little shorts, I absolutely LOVE these denim shorts from Gucci. How good would these look with a bikini top and the blazer? So. Good! But if shorts aren't your thing, then head over to OYSHO for some very affordable linen. These trousers would look great with all black everything.
Moving onto accessories, we have a little bit of Fendi today. The new Fendigraphy bag! It comes in a few different sizes, all with the FENDI script underneath and in a super comfy but classy and spacious crescent shape. The smallest size can be worn around the wrist, and the largest fit perfectly under the shoulder. They all come with a longer strap so can be worn as a cross-body too. The chocolate brown suede bag caught my eye on the runway, but it was this pink one that stole my attention this week. I saw this orange ribbon bucket hat from &Other Stories, which would look amazing with a white bodysuit and the Gucci shorts above. Bold coloured sandals would pull the look together really nicely. From top to toe, in comes the feathered leather sandals from Mango that I coupled with the Brogger dress earlier on. However, the cherry on top of this weeks post is this gorgeous Jaipur Ring with Morganite from Boodles. My inner magpie just cried out for this! I think it strikes the perfect balance between elegant and BIG. Plus, it's pink. Need I say any more?
Happy Easter!
